Private Equity on the Glide Path: Opportunities and Challenges for Retirement Plans

Date: November 13, 2025

Time: 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST

The role of private equity and other private market investments in defined contribution (DC) plans is evolving. We will discuss regulatory developments, including the Department of Labor’s guidance and recent policy initiatives aimed at providing access to alternative investments.

A stylized retirement model incorporating private equity will be presented, simulating possible outcomes for investors as they approach the retirement stage. Attendees will gain insights into the potential benefits and challenges of incorporating private equity into retirement glide paths, including considerations around fees, liquidity, and implementation hurdles.

By the end of the session, attendees will be able to:

  • Explain the regulatory framework that allows private equity in DC plans.
  • Evaluate the potential benefits and risks of private equity for retirement investors.
  • Understand modeling approaches for assessing private equity’s impact on retirement outcomes.
  • Identify practical considerations for implementing private market strategies in allocation strategies.
