The Prudent Practices for Investment Stewards and Investment Advisors ( Canada Edition) handbook features the same Practices and Criteria as the U.S. editions of the handbooks for Investment Stewards and Investment Advisors, but with Canada-specific legal substantiations and text.

All twenty-one Practices are substantiated by legislation and case law from:

  • Pension Benefits Standards Act, 1985
  • Pension Benefits Act ( Ontario )
  • Trustee Act ( Ontario )

Each of the other common law provinces in Canada has enacted its own Pension Benefits Act and Trustee Act. For simplicity, only the relevant provisions from the Pension Benefits Act ( Ontario ) and Trustee Act ( Ontario ) are cited. To view a chart of the comparable statutory provisions, see the Provincial Tables of Concordance .

Prudent Practices for Investment Stewards and Investment Advisors (Canada Edition) was co-produced in association with the Canadian Task Force:
  • Sean O’Hara, AIFA
  • Carlos Panksep
  • Lance Novak

Legal substantiations were provided by Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP.
